Valentine ABC Order Activity Valentine’s Day Literary Center Alphabetical Order

Do your students need practice with ABC Order? Are you looking for an engaging way to tie Valentine’s Day with the skill of alphabetical order? If so, this Valentine’s Day-themed ABC Order activity provides students with practice putting words into alphabetical order.  Some words in this activity begin with the same letter, so students will gain practice putting words in alphabetical order to both the second and third letter.

Both color and black and white card options are included for ink-saving printing!  Also, depending on the needs of your students, there are two versions of the recording sheet included.  One option includes a writing line for students who may need support with letter placement.

This activity can be part of a small group lesson or an independent/small group literacy station.  Students will organize the 20 Valentine-themed word cards into alphabetical order.  After organizing the word cards into ABC Order, students will copy the words onto the recording sheet in alphabetical order.  Afterward, you can choose to have students turn their work in to be checked, or you can leave a copy of the included answer key for students to self-check their work.
