Fall Classroom Activities

Today marks the beginning of Fall/Autumn, so I thought I would share some of my favorite fall classroom activities with you! Fall is one of my favorite seasons in the classroom because students are settled into routines, excited about learning, and ready for engaging seasonal learning activities. Adding themed resources into your lessons is a simple way to keep students motivated while still practicing important literacy and writing skills.
Fall Classroom Activities
One of my favorite fall classroom activities is this Fall ABC Order activity! Students color the pictures, cut apart the rectangles, and glue them onto a separate sheet of paper in alphabetical order. I love that students are practicing multiple skills at once, including vocabulary development, alphabetizing, fine motor skills, and following directions. These types of fall classroom activities work perfectly for literacy centers, morning work, independent practice, or small group instruction. Another fun activity is a fall math challenge with missing addends!

Fall Texts
I also love incorporating nonfiction texts into my lessons whenever possible. Nonfiction reading passages are excellent fall classroom activities because they help students build background knowledge while strengthening reading comprehension skills. This fall emergent reader and fall reading comprehension passage are great for practicing reading fluency, comprehension, and text evidence skills. Students can also work on important comprehension strategies such as identifying cause and effect, recalling details, and answering questions about the text. These fall literacy activities are easy to use during guided reading, whole group lessons, homework, or independent reading time.

Fall Writing Activities
Writing is another important skill that can easily be incorporated into your fall classroom activities. Seasonal writing activities tend to be highly engaging for students because they allow creativity while still targeting academic standards. The included fall writing craft and acrostic poem are fun ways for students to practice writing skills while celebrating the fall season. I especially love using these writing activities for bulletin board displays because they create festive classroom decor while showcasing student work at the same time.

One reason I love using these fall classroom activities is that they help make learning exciting during the busy season! If you’d like to snag a copy of these fall classroom activities and more, simply complete the form below, and I will send them straight to your inbox!
