2025 New Year Classroom Activities

Happy New Year!  It’s hard to believe a new year is upon us.  As you prepare to head back into the classroom this January, I have FREE 2025 New Year classroom activities you can use to help your students ring in the new year! These 2025 New Year reading and math activities are a great way to review skills and ease back into the second semester of the school year after winter break!

Reading New Year Activity

Two reading and math activities are included in the FREE 2025 New Year classroom activities packet. First, is a reading comprehension passage that teaches students about the New Year holiday, traditions in the United States, and popular resolutions that are often made.  After reading the passage, students can complete the accompanying comprehension check.  The included comprehension check includes multiple-choice and written response questions covering skills such as main idea, text features, text evidence, and higher-level thinking responses.   

2025 New Year Classroom Activity for Math

Also included is a picture of a mystery hundred chart!  Students will enjoy locating given numbers on a hundred chart and coloring by the code to reveal the new year, 2025. This activity will be great practice for students who are practicing numerals to 100 and patterns on the hundreds chart.
